How to Create a Fall Routine for Your Online Business
The fall season is a great time to get back into a routine and re-energize your business after the summer break. Whether you have young children returning to school or not, there are simple steps you can take to kickstart your business and establish a structure that will help you stay focused and productive. Today let’s talk about five key actions to help you create a fall routine for your online business.
What we cover today:
The Benefits of a Routine
Embrace the fact that it is normal to deviate from your routine during the summer months.
The summer is the time for fun and adventure! If you took time away from your business, please don’t feel guilty about it. Read about how you can simplify your business for the summer next time it comes around. But know that the break was probably needed and now you are in a good place to move forward with your goals.
Accept there may be changes in the online business world and adapt.
We know how fast the online space changes. Things might have shifted a lot over the past season. Spend some time catching up on what is happening, but more importantly do some inner reflection on where YOU want your business to go – not where social media tells you it should go.
Realize your productivity will increase dramatically when you have: Clear Goals, Priorities and a To Do list.
When you have a crystal-clear vision of what you want to achieve, you can focus your energy on the tasks that truly matter. Prioritizing those tasks ensures that you’re tackling the most important ones first, while a to-do list keeps you organized and on track. Productivity is my jam! Set Clear Goals and a Schedule
We’re diving deep into the power of early mornings, creating an empowering morning routine, choosing your focus area, and crafting a killer to-do list. So grab a cup of coffee, get cozy, and get ready to elevate your productivity game with our actionable tips and strategies.
Get Up Early
Did you know I was going to say that one!? Summer schedules are usually more casual, so it’s a good time to change up your own routine and fit in things you normally wouldn’t be able to do. This can include getting up earlier, which is often easier in the summer because the sun is up too.
Most summers I get up early to get things done. Because in the summer when the kids are home from school, of course that was the only time of the day when the whole house was sleeping and I was actually alone.

Create your own Miracle Morning
There’s a really popular book called (affiliate link) The Miracle Morning which allows you to set up a structure to do specific things in the morning before everyone in your house. People say it is game changing and I agree.
Even if your Miracle Morning is 3 things – 1. Set Your Intentions for the Day 2. Create your to do list and 3. Do some journaling – you will also be amazed at how organized you are by getting this done. And not only that, it really does give you that sigh of relief of feeling like you accomplished certain things and got done what you needed to before the business of the day starts.
Here are 5 examples of tasks you can do in your Miracle Morning routine:
1. Meditate or practice mindfulness to set intentions and clear the mind for the day ahead.
2. Journal or engage in morning pages to brainstorm ideas, reflect on goals, or process thoughts and emotions. I love using the (affiliate link) Best Self Self Journal for this.
3. Read or listen to inspirational or educational content that aligns with personal or professional growth.
4. Exercise or engage in movement to energize the body and boost productivity.
5. Plan and prioritize tasks for the day by creating a to-do list or using time-blocking techniques to allocate time for different activities.
Remember, everyone’s Miracle Morning routine will be unique to their own preferences and needs. Feel free to adapt and customize the tasks to suit your individual goals and aspirations.
Choose Your Focus Area
Determine the specific aspect of your business that requires concentrated effort during the fall season.
This doesn’t have to be a whole year long plan, it doesn’t really even have to be a quarter plan. There can be a ton of things that you can accomplish within a month of a time period. As long as you focus on what is going to make you income and use the advantages of the fall to work for you.
We know the fall is when people get back to their desks, sales and launches are a good idea, and everyone is buying. Base your business activities around this and you are sure to see success.
Ideas for areas to focus on in your business:
- Clarify your brand
- Set up your email list
- Start your website
- Create your content plan
- Create digital products
When you have this list, you can also choose certain days of the week to only do certain tasks. This has increased my productivity so much. That way you aren’t switching from task to task, which will slow you down by a lot. Our brains can only switch ideas so many times.
For example:
Mondays – Content; Work with all of your content on these days. Ideas, writing, drafts, transcribing, etc.
Tuesdays – Marketing; This is when you do your promotions, schedule things, email list sends, etc.
Wednesdays – Digital Products; Use this day to be creating, refining, updating, writing your digital products and services.
Thursdays – Collaborations; Use this time to apply for bundles, guest interview or post, connect in groups and network
Friday – Admin Day; There is always admin work like your budget, VA tasks, email clean out and more. Sometimes you can schedule this for an hour each day if needed, that can also work.

Create a Daily To-Do List
In order to move the needle in your business, you have to know what you are doing each day and more importantly, you need to have a plan every single time you sit down at your laptop to work. I can’t stress this enough! Don’t waste your time scrolling or doing unnecessary tasks that don’t bring in income.
Develop a daily routine by listing the essential tasks that need to be accomplished consistently. You do this by making a daily to do list for your business with items that are realistic and can be completed within a dedicated time frame. There is so much evidence about how you can change your life by changing your daily habits.
Daily to do lists can look like this:
- Post on social media
- Engage with your audience
- Do your admin work
- Have conversations
- Invite people to purchase or to events
Establish Work-Life Boundaries
It is important to set clear boundaries between work and personal life to avoid overworking and prioritize self-care and relaxation. Many of us know this first-hand. My hobby used to be to work, but now more and more I take time for myself and I encourage you to do so also.
By clearly defining when work hours begin and end, you can prevent yourself from falling into the trap of constantly being on-call or constantly checking your work email, even during your personal time. Use the above to do list creation tasks to help determine when you will stop working.
Also, communicate them effectively with your family, team, and anyone you need to online. Letting your loved ones know when you need uninterrupted time for work can help them understand and respect your boundaries. Similarly, informing your team and clients about your availability and preferred communication channels will help avoid misunderstandings and prevent burnout.
Remember, it is perfectly okay to prioritize your personal well-being and take breaks when needed. Taking breaks and engaging in self-care activities can actually boost productivity and creativity when you do return to work. It is crucial to set aside time for relaxation and hobbies, as they contribute to a well-rounded and fulfilling life.
By setting and communicating your work-life boundaries, you can create a healthy balance, allowing you to excel in your business while also enjoying your personal life. Remember that finding the right balance is an ongoing process and may require adjustments along the way. Be flexible and open to making changes as needed to maintain a sustainable work-life routine.
Optimize Your Workspace
Fall is all about fresh starts, so why not take this opportunity to optimize your workspace and boost your productivity?
First things first, let’s tackle the clutter. Clear out all the unnecessary items from your physical and digital spaces. Get rid of those piles of papers that have been collecting dust and organize your files and folders on your computer. Trust me, a clean and organized workspace can do wonders for your focus and creativity.
Next, let’s create an environment that inspires you. Add some personal touches like plants, photos, or motivational quotes to brighten up your space. Consider investing in ergonomic furniture or accessories to make sure you’re comfortable throughout the day. Remember, a workspace that reflects your personality and style can help fuel your creativity and make you excited to tackle your tasks.

Embrace Seasonal Content
This is the perfect time to tap into the seasonal spirit and give your marketing strategy a cozy autumn twist. Here are a few ideas to get you started. Fall always gets me excited about working on my business again, how about you?
First and foremost, let’s talk about sharing tips for a productive Fall. This is the season of change and renewal, so why not offer your audience some valuable advice on how to make the most out of this time of year? Whether it’s tips for staying organized during the back-to-school rush or suggestions for self-care routines to combat the approaching chilly weather, your audience will appreciate your helpful insights.
But that’s not all – don’t forget to incorporate some autumn-themed promotions into your content. From pumpkin spice latte discounts at your coffee shop to cozy sweater sales at your boutique, there are countless ways to tie your business into the Fall season. Get creative with your offers and make sure to highlight the unique aspects of your products or services that make them perfect for this time of year.
And speaking of uniqueness, why not give your audience a peek behind the scenes of your business during this cozy season? Share photos or videos of your team enjoying pumpkin carving sessions or planning your Fall marketing campaigns. This will not only humanize your brand but also create a sense of authenticity and connection with your followers.
Lastly, don’t forget to use relevant hashtags and engage with your audience to increase visibility and build authentic connections. Hashtags like #FallVibes or #AutumnLove are great for reaching a wider audience that is already in the seasonal mindset. And when it comes to engagement, make sure to respond to comments, ask questions, and initiate conversations with your followers. This will not only make them feel valued but also encourage them to keep coming back for more.
Schedule Time for Growth and Learning
This is so important and maybe even something you’ve had on your to do list for a long time but haven’t been able to get to. Self improvement means self growth and business growth. Make a list of all of the things you want to do to grow.
This can be courses you have purchased and want to take, books you want to read, podcasts you listen to on a walk, or programs you want to do. Use your planner or Trello boards, or other organization tools to make sure you see these on a regular basis and can get them in your schedule.
Learning how to create a fall routine for your online business is essential for keeping your focus, increasing productivity, and achieving your goals. By recognizing the need for a routine, getting up early, choosing a focus area, creating a daily to-do list, establishing work-life boundaries, and scheduling time for growth and learning, you can set yourself up for success in the coming months. Embrace the change in season, reevaluate your strategies, and make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.
Happy fall and let’s make great things happen in your business today!
